Anyone who does not understand or speak French is entitled to the free assistance of a sworn interpreter in criminal proceedings. This right guarantees a fair trial.
When does the interpreter step in?
From police custody, then during questioning, investigation and the trial hearing. They faithfully render questions, answers and debates.
Translating case documents
Reports, expert opinions and judgments may require a sworn translation to be enforceable and understood by the defendant.
A duty of neutrality
The expert interpreter registered with a court of appeal is bound by impartiality and secrecy. We work with the courts of the French Riviera.
